Bill Shorten has called on Scott Morrison to apologise for saying he is “blessed” to have two daughters without disability to a mother whose autistic son’s care package had been cut.
The comment in Wednesday’s leaders’ town hall was a low point for the prime minister in a debate narrowly won by Anthony Albanese, drawing condemnation from disability advocates, Labor and the current and former Australians of the Year, Dylan Alcott and Grace Tame.
