People with disabilities ‘continue to experience high rates of violence and abuse, multiple forms of neglect, and sexual and financial exploitation’, final report states

Significant change is required for Australia to be a truly inclusive society for people with disabilities, who “continue to experience high rates of violence and abuse, multiple forms of neglect, and sexual and financial exploitation”, a royal commission has found.

The final report of the royal commission into violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability was made public on Friday after four and a half years of hearings, reports, submissions and powerful testimony from people with disabilities and their loved ones.
